Affiliate opportunities may be on the horizon! At the Mindful Ecotherapy Center, PLLC, our mission has always been to make mindfulness-based therapies accessible, ethical, and impactful. As we continue to grow, we’re exploring new ways to serve our communities in Washington and South Carolina even better. One exciting development we’re currently investigating is the possibility of expanding our team by contracting licensed therapists as 1099 affiliates.

What Does This Mean?

In practical terms, this means therapists would join our Center not as traditional employees, but as independent contractors. As affiliates, they would maintain their professional autonomy while working collaboratively within the values, practices, and mission of the Mindful Ecotherapy Center. This model provides flexibility for therapists and allows us to offer a broader range of services to our clients.

Affiliates would also be given the opportunity to participate in our Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapist Facilitator Certification Program. This training would be offered for free to affiliates and would offer in-depth education in the principles of mindfulness-based ecotherapy. This comprehensive training would include opportunities to engage firsthand in mindfulness-based ecotherapy activities so affiliates could experience for themselves what the program offers.

Why Now?

Over the past few years, demand for teletherapy services — especially in mindfulness-based therapy — has grown exponentially. Clients are seeking high-quality, accessible care that aligns with their values. By partnering with skilled, like-minded therapists, we hope to meet this growing need without compromising the personalized, thoughtful approach that defines us.

Since its inception, the Mindful Ecotherapy Center has educated therapists and mental health professionals in the skills of mindfulness-based ecotherapy. We have grown to the point that we now have certified facilitators in twenty-five states and six countries. Current certified facilitators would be offered an opportunity to participate in our affiliate program if we decide to move forward with it, and all potential new affiliates would be offered facilitator training.

What We’re Considering

We are currently evaluating several important factors, including:

  • Ensuring Legal and Ethical Compliance: Carefully structuring the affiliate relationship to meet IRS guidelines for independent contractors and compliance with licensing board regulations in Washington and South Carolina. As we continue to grow, we will also look into the possibility of offering affiliation in other states as well.
  • Maintaining Quality of Care: Affiliates will be selected based on rigorous standards, including training and experience in mindfulness-based therapies. If we decide to move forward, there will be a comprehensive onboarding training that would include education in mindfulness-based ecotherapy, use of our EHR system, marketing for potential clients, and networking opportunities within our organization.
  • Creating a Supportive Community: Even as independent contractors, affiliates would be invited into a collaborative professional environment that encourages growth, learning, and connection. We would have regular online meetings for affiliates.

Next Steps

Our leadership team is consulting with legal and human resources experts to ensure we develop a system that benefits both clients and therapists. We aim to build an affiliate network that values professional integrity, flexibility, and the spirit of mindful living.

If you are a licensed therapist who resonates with our mission and would like to explore the possibility of becoming an affiliate, stay tuned! We plan to share more details about this opportunity in the coming months.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We are excited about the future — and about finding new ways to help our communities heal, grow, and thrive.
