About Mindful Moments
Mindful Moments is a reflective video series created and hosted by Charlton Hall, MMFT, PhD, founder and Director of the Mindful Ecotherapy Center, designed to help you slow down, reconnect, and cultivate awareness in the midst of everyday life. Each episode offers a brief yet meaningful pause, inviting you to step out of automatic pilot and into a more intentional relationship with your inner world and the natural environment around you.
The series is grounded in mindfulness-based ecotherapy, an integrative approach that weaves together mindfulness practices, evidence-based psychotherapy, and the healing power of nature. Rather than treating mindfulness as something abstract or purely cognitive, Mindful Moments emphasizes embodied experience. You are encouraged to notice sensations in your body, emotions as they arise, thoughts as passing events, and the subtle ways your surroundings influence your nervous system. Nature is not treated as a backdrop, but as an active partner in the process of healing and self-awareness.
Mindful Moments: Short but Engaging Episodes
Each video is intentionally concise, making it easy to incorporate into your daily routine. You might watch a Mindful Moment in the morning to set the tone for the day, during a break to reset your nervous system, or in the evening to help you wind down and reflect. Topics often include grounding, emotional regulation, working with difficult thoughts, cultivating self-compassion, and developing a deeper sense of connection to the living world. Metaphors drawn from nature, such as forests, weather patterns, animals, and seasonal changes, are used to make complex psychological concepts more accessible and relatable.
Mindful Moments: Something for Everyone
Mindful Moments draws from a range of therapeutic traditions, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and somatic approaches to trauma-informed care. The focus is not on “fixing” yourself, but on learning how to be present with your experience in a way that supports flexibility, resilience, and values-based living. You are invited to observe without judgment, to practice curiosity instead of avoidance, and to recognize that discomfort and ease are both natural parts of being human.
A defining feature of the series is its emphasis on mindfulness-based ecotherapy. You are guided to notice not only what you think, but what your body knows, and how the natural world can support that knowing. Whether the video is filmed outdoors or uses nature-based imagery and language, the intention is to help you remember that you are part of a larger ecosystem, not separate from it.
Ultimately, Mindful Moments is about creating small, sustainable practices that add up over time. These brief videos are meant to meet you where you are, offering practical tools, gentle insights, and moments of calm that you can return to again and again. Through consistent practice, the series supports greater emotional balance, increased self-awareness, and a deeper sense of connection to both yourself and the world around you.
