Case Presentation

This program includes three courses. Once you have completed all three classes required for certification as a Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapist, there is a case presentation in which you will use at least one activity from the Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Program with a client.

Select a client and explain to them what you will be doing. If your client agrees, then proceed with the activity.

Once your case presentation has been presented and approved, you will receive your Certificate of Completion as a Certified Program Facilitator and will be entitled to a free listing on our Directory of Certified Facilitators.

Instructions for Submitting Your Case Presentation

When you have finished all the course materials for the program, you will need to select a client/patient with whom to use at least one of the tools/exercises. Perform the exercise with your client, then complete the case presentation using the form below.

Before offering mindfulness-based ecotherapy, it’s essential to conduct thorough due diligence as part of the informed consent process so clients understand exactly what the work involves and what it does not promise. This includes clearly explaining the therapeutic approach, the role of outdoor or nature-based activities, any potential risks related to the environment or accessibility, and the client’s right to decline or modify activities at any point.

Clinicians should assess a client’s physical and psychological readiness for outdoor work, review relevant medical or mobility considerations, and ensure that issues like weather, terrain, privacy, and safety are addressed. Informed consent should also outline the limits of confidentiality in outdoor settings, the evidence base for the methods used, and how the client and therapist will handle unforeseen circumstances, up to and including safety planning where warranted. Done well, this process supports autonomy, builds trust, and creates a transparent foundation for ethical practice.

After exercising due diligence and informed consent, proceed with the selected activity with your client. After completing the activity and soliciting your client’s input, complete the case presentation form below and submit it.

When your case presentation has been approved, and your course completion for all courses in the program has been verified, you will be emailed a certificate of completion in PDF format certifying you as a Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy Facilitator.
